PlayCount Privacy Policy

1. Data controller

Nathanaël Bontoux, sole trader, 162 boulevard Nicolas Saboly, 84260 Sarrians, France. SIREN: 943 408 377. SIRET: 943 408 377 00019. Registered with the Avignon Trade and Companies Register. Phone: +33 6 99 51 62 06. Contact: contact@nathanaelbontoux.fr.

2. Data used by PlayCount

PlayCount may store player names or nicknames, selected and custom games, participants, teams, rounds, scores, results, dates, statistics, display preferences and the state needed to resume games. If you link an account or share a game, it also uses Game Center identifiers supplied by Apple, invitations, revisions and technical information needed for synchronization and conflict handling. You enter names, games and scores; Apple provides Game Center identity information and signed authentication proofs.

3. Purposes and legal bases

Recording scores, retaining games and sharing them provide the service you request. Authentication, access controls and revision checks support that service and our legitimate interest in preventing unauthorized access and accidental overwrites. Game Center and iCloud features, where available, are optional and used when you choose account linking, sharing or synchronization. Local profiles and unshared games provide the basic service. Refusing access to Game Center friends or declining sharing only disables the corresponding features. Without iCloud, data remains local.

4. Local storage and iCloud

Your device stores a local copy. Deleting the app may remove this copy. If iCloud synchronization is enabled, games and profiles are stored in your private CloudKit database under your Apple Account, rather than in a public database. Deletions may propagate between your devices. Removing the app does not necessarily remove copies retained in iCloud: manage these with Apple's tools and settings. See Apple's privacy policy.

5. Game Center and shared games

Apple manages Game Center authentication, friend access and achievements under its own terms. PlayCount's sharing service uses authorized Game Center identifiers, participants, scores, rounds, game status, invitations, revisions and dates over HTTPS. Access is restricted to authenticated, authorized participants. Before accepting an invitation, only the game, organizer and invited player are shown, without scores or history. Revision history helps detect conflicting edits and avoid silently losing scores.

The sharing infrastructure is provided by Hostinger International Limited, Cyprus. The server is located in France; the hosting dashboard lists Lithuania as the backup location. Temporary Apple-signed authentication proofs are used to verify identity. Service tokens are stored as hashes.

6. Advertising and Remove Ads purchase

Advertising-enabled versions use Google AdMob when leaving a newly finished game’s podium, at most once per two completed games. There are no score-screen banners. Unavailable ads never block navigation. Earlier ad-free versions do not start this service.

The SDK may process IP address (approximate location), device identifiers, ads viewed, interactions and diagnostics for advertising and analytics. PlayCount does not send player names or scores to it. Google SDK data disclosure.

PlayCount requests non-personalized ads and does not request the Apple advertising identifier through App Tracking Transparency. Non-personalized does not mean no data processing. Google’s form provides applicable choices before ad requests; required privacy options are available in Settings. Optional processing that requires consent relies on that consent. Other purposes and legal bases are described in the form.

Google and partners listed in the form apply their own retention periods and international transfer safeguards; PlayCount does not set those periods. See Google’s privacy policy and each partner’s information in the form.

The optional one-time Remove Ads purchase disables ads. Apple handles payment and restoration; PlayCount verifies your entitlement and does not receive bank or card details. All games and features remain free.

7. Recipients

Apple and Hostinger process the data needed for their respective services. We do not sell your data or create advertising profiles.

8. Retention

Local data remains until you delete it in the app or remove the app. iCloud retention depends on your Apple settings and choices. Authentication proofs used to prevent replay and service tokens become unusable within 24 hours, then are purged. Current shared games, rounds and scores are retained for resuming games and statistics. Technical revisions are removed after 90 days and private deployment backups after 30 days. Cleanup is scheduled daily and also runs on service traffic, at most hourly. Expired items are removed on the next successful execution. Hostinger automatic backups are separate: its documentation states six weeks for weekly backups and seven days for daily backups, depending on the active plan. Deleted data may persist in these isolated copies until expiry; erasure requests must be reapplied before restoration. Hosting logs may include IP addresses, request URLs, timestamps and browser information for security and diagnostics; their exact retention depends on the hosting service. Deleting your shared data removes your identity and access on the sharing service and anonymizes your profile in games retained by other participants.

9. Your choices and rights

You can use PlayCount locally, unlink Game Center, and use Settings → Account and sharing → Delete my shared data. This action concerns the sharing service; it does not delete local or iCloud data or your Apple Game Center account. Manage iCloud and Game Center through Apple's settings.

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection or portability, where applicable, by emailing contact@nathanaelbontoux.fr. Verification of your Game Center identity may be necessary. You may lodge a complaint with the CNIL or another competent data protection authority.

10. Security

We use access controls, signed identity proofs, HTTPS, hashed tokens and revision checks. No system can guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

We do not knowingly collect identifying information directly from children. Apple Account and Game Center use is subject to Apple's age and family-account rules.

12. Invitation links, QR codes and game nights

Invitation links target one player in one game, last for 24 hours, and can be revoked by the organizer. Acceptance requires Game Center authentication and associates that participant with your account for this game. Anyone holding a link for an unlinked participant can claim it: only send the link to the intended person. The service stores a hash of the token and the technical information needed to use it.

The camera is used only when you choose to scan a QR code. PlayCount does not save or upload camera images. You can refuse camera access and paste the link instead.

Game nights (name, participants, game references and dates) are stored on the organizer’s device. Standings are calculated from game results. Deleting a game night keeps its games; removing the app may delete this local grouping.
